Rep. Ashe earns Environmental Leadership Award
Recognized for leadership on environmental legislation
State Rep. Kathy Ashe (D-Atlanta) has been honored as one of the select recipients of 2006 Environmental Leadership Award, presented by Georgia Conservati on Voters.
Ashe was recognized for her leadership on environmental and conservation initiatives during the 2005/2006 Legislative Session. Moreover, by promoting common-sense measures that protect our environment, Ashe contributed to the sustainable and continued growth of Georgia’s tourism and economy.
During the 2005-2006 legislative sessions, Ashe worked diligently to protect Georgia’s once-abundant supply of clean water. Ashe recognizes that maintaining our vibrant growth and high quality of life demands enough clean water for everyone and therefore worked to defeat irresponsible bills, such as Senate Bill 510. SB 510 would have effectively rolled back stream buffers on selective drinking water reservoirs, impacting downstream water quality and property values.
